Thank you to Market Harborough for hosting this years annual battle, lets hope we can meet in person next year. Thanks also to the Judge, Steven Galvin, especially as Corby won this year but obviously it's the taking part that matters!

17th FEBRUARY 2021 - 'Mongolia - Eagle Hunters' a presentation by Julian Elliott
What an amazing presentation, a great insight into a lesser travelled part of the world. And if your feeling like an adventure just visit Julian's website and you could book up and travel with him next time he goes. Julian Elliott has been a professional landscape and travel photographer for 10 years. Having started writing for a number of British UK photography magazines he started selling his work through the World renowned Getty Images. To date his work has sold in over 40 countries and he has travelled in over 30 countries capturing the world around him. The talk is called Mongolia - From Steppe to Eagle Hunters. Journey from Mongolia's capital to the Altai in the country's far west. See how Julian's journey in this vast country unfolded and hear how he captured the vast landscapes and the people that inhabit them. Watch how Julian switches between from being a landscape photographer to travel to sports when the talk finishes with a look at the Eagle Festival. www.julianelliottphotography.com February 10th - An Evening with our Chairman Barry Knott 'A Look at the West'
Thank you to Barry for a lovely evening, it was great to look back over his travels to the USA in 1993. Converting these slide images to digital files was a huge undertaking but so worthwhile. Stunning scapes from San Francisco, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Park. The Mobile Phone Shots evening went well yesterday with 52 images submitted and made for an interesting evening, thank you all who took part. I think we will have some version of this every year.
27th January 2021 Monthly Competition - Subject 'Open'
Judged by Pat Couder CPAGB, BPE1 Congratulations to Christine Stafford for 1st and 3rd place 1st Christine - 'Cosmos' 20 points 2nd Nigel - 'Feeding Otter' 20 points 3rd Christine - 'Sun Setting At Roach End Barn' 20 points Full results on the website members' page thanks to Andrei. Thanks to Colin for last weeks presentation, a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The amount of wildlife that Colin was able to find in such a small area was certainly impressive and it must have taken a lot of hours to both take the photos and organise the presentation. The tour of Italy that followed was very well done indeed and extremely entertaining. The narration and images were good and the whole thing was very interesting.
An evening to look forward to next Wednesday with another talk by one of our members, Colin Bloor.
Thank you to Malcolm for a very enjoyable evening, escaping to warmer climes and the beautiful birds and wildlife were just what was needed on a chilly Wednesday evening. It was nice to see such a good turnout with visitors from Desborough and Rothwell PS joining us and people from as far away as Somerset, Cornwall and even Washington DC in the USA.
Next week we can look forward to a presentation by our very own Malcolm Hupman. 'Where I Photograph Wildlife Abroad' this is a recently updated version of his talk which contains information and images from a trip to Extramadura in Spain in October 2019 and a trip to Gran Canaria that was taken last January.
All our events are currently via zoom, so you can enjoy from the comfort and safety of your sofa! |
