15th SEPTEMBER 2021 - 'Tools not Rules' by Caroline Preece LRPS
A very enjoyable, thought provoking and informative evening with Caroline introducing people to a new way of thinking about composition. The first part of the talk covered photography as a visual language. In the second part, Caroline provided club members with an understanding of the impact of their in-camera and post-processing choices on the end image.
8th SEPTEMBER 2021 - Members' Evening
Yesterday evening we had a very good turn out for our first Members Evening and I would like to thank everyone who contributed. Some members went the extra mile like Colin Bloor, who although unable to join us, contributed his images and wrote out his comments to be read out on the evening. Also Nigel West who’s contribution was very well thought out and interesting and must have taken him some time.
The idea of the evening was to encourage members and give them an opportunity to show photos that are not necessarily up to Competition standard. Members could tell us where and why thy took the photo if they wanted to, let us know what problems they had to overcome and even why things didn’t go as well as planned.
Any Photos shown can be used in future competitions and the evening could be used to get feedback on images that you are thinking of entering in Competitions. Alternatively it could be used as a place to show what you are doing. We will be having another Members' evening in November.

4th AUGUST 2021 - Fineshade Wood
Although numbers were down a little on previous weeks it was good to see those of you who joined us at Fineshade Woods yesterday evening. Especially Len and Sheila who had the furthest to travel. Several members took advantage of the Wildlife Hide while the rest of us did the Yellow Walking Trail. The weather was good, the company excellent and the conversation interesting. People were reluctant to leave and the conversation continued for quite some time in the Car Park after the walk was finished. It is a shame that we couldn’t end the evening in a pub as we used to do and there was talk of perhaps trying to do this after our last outdoor meeting on the Summer Programme at Thrapston Gravel Pits on 18thAugust.
There were some extremely good images in the competition this month and I would imagine there were a few disappointments. However I think our judge Peter Wells ARPS CPAGB BPE3* EFIAP, who is President of Wakefield Camera Club and is a Yorkshire Photographic Union accredited Judge, made an excellent job of judging and I totally agreed with his choice of winner.
Congratulations go to Nigel for 1st place
1st - Nigel with 'Tyr Mawr Lighthouse Anglesey' - 20 points
2nd - Malcolm with 'The Boathouse' - 20 points
3rd - Christine with 'Looking For The Sheep' - 20 points
